How to compare prior study with programme or licensing requirements.

1. Gather Your Documents

Begin by collecting all academic and professional records. This includes official transcripts, degree certificates, and detailed course descriptions or syllabi. Also gather evidence of work experience, internships, or continuing education that may be relevant. Having a complete portfolio at the outset will save time later.

Visit the official website of the programme or licensing body. Look for admission prerequisites, required courses, minimum grades, and any specific competency standards. Note whether they accept transfer credits or require a formal credential evaluation. Create a checklist of all requirements, including application deadlines and fees. If the information is unclear, contact the admissions or licensing office directly for clarification.

3. Conduct a Side-by-Side Comparison

Map your completed courses to the target requirements. Compare course content, credit hours, and learning outcomes. For licensing, align your qualifications with the published competency profile. Identify areas where your background matches and where there are gaps. Be objective; a course title similarity does not guarantee equivalency. Use this analysis to determine if you may qualify for advanced standing or credit transfer.

4. Address Identified Gaps
